The Little Bungalow on Gordon Drive

It's finally warm outside... this means I have no excuse not to get the landscaping in order. I'm just going to throw this one out there: Yard work is over-romanticized. After raking 28 bags worth of leaves (front yard ONLY) I'm on the brink of hiring someone.

I thought yard work would entail planting flowers and having a little vegetable garden... maybe even wearing a hat like this:

IT IS NOT. If it ever turns into that... I'll be sure to let you know.

Welcome home, Ascot chair

Just went and picked up the newest addition to my room: The Ascot Chair. I wanted to add a hint of Parisian style to my room and when I saw this chair 5 months ago, it was love at first site. However, I was severely insulted when Pottery Barn priced this chair. Did they honestly think anyone would pay $1200 dollars for a chair? Two weeks ago, the furniture gods dealt me a decent hand: $300 dollars for the floor model, AS IS.. no returns. I had a a 20% off coupon and argued my way down to $250 due to a small scratch on the back leg (which I have already sanded down and re-stained), so I ended up getting my dream chair for $200 + tax. Long story short, I am very happy with the chair. I had contemplated putting a dresser against the window, but decided that I didn't want the room to be overtaken by a massive amount of furniture.

The Living Room

Still a work in progress. I picked a shade of Benjamin Moore paint called Urban Nature. If you ever paint a room, I would highly recommend checking out Benjamin Moore. I'm a huge fan of their Aura paint and I doubt I'll ever use anything else. My couch is currently wrapped in plastic in my dining room... but in a few days (after I buff the floors) it should finally be ready to be unveiled! This room has been a long time coming... I sanded down 80 years worth of paint off the baseboards and had it repainted white. Words could never describe how happy I am that the sanding process is finally over.

This is the Pearce couch I got. Same color, same material. (Everyday Suede in Oat). You would not believe how comfortable it is... probably a good thing I haven't unwrapped it yet because I doubt I'll get much done after I do.
